Who fits into BizMagic

If you can run a VAT201 in a storm or call out a chequebook fib at a supplier counter, you'll fit right in. We look for people who know how to make owner-run businesses work in South Africa, whether that's a Mahikeng events studio managing their COIDA slips or a Kimberley tyre importer chasing up month-end cash. Our team covers the nitty-gritty: starter kits, supplier shortlists, rituals, permits and the long list of things in between. Real work, for real small businesses. Read more about what we stand for on our about page.

Roles we hire for year-round

Most often you'll spot us hiring for three roles. Session leads run weekly ops rituals over WhatsApp or Zoom with new SME founders (think leading a supplier calendar run for a bakery in Galeshewe). Kit editors pull together new versions of our popular tools like the Launch Deck or Supplier Radar, spotting gaps, typos and what makes sense to a Mthatha tile fitter. Hub coordinators keep our supplier hubs ticking, they know the traffic at Jacaranda Road in Mahikeng and which load-shedding stages close the Sandton pick-up at 15:00. Some folks move between roles, but everyone starts with SME paperwork and real founders.

  • Session leads (virtual operations workshops, founder calls)
  • Kit editors (updating SME toolkits, writing practical notes)
  • Hub coordinators (supplier hub scheduling, document checks)

How to apply to BizMagic

We keep hiring simple. No web forms. No long interviews at secret coffee shops. If you want to join, email magic@bizmagic.co.za with subject 'Careers'. Attach your CV. Add a one-page note, tell us about a moment you sorted out a proper South African admin mess (say, the day a supplier gave you the wrong SADC certificate at Beitbridge) or why you know your way around SME paperwork. We read every application by hand. If you’re keen, give concrete details and keep it real. Read our resources if you want a flavour for the type of work we touch every day.

What your first month looks like

Everyone starts small. You’ll shadow two ops rituals, then run your own for a real business. Maybe it’s a Kimberley shop needing a UIF update, or a Mahikeng peanut butter maker sorting municipal permits. You’ll write and edit a chunk of a starter kit (like Supplier Radar or the Cash Spell). Expect two check-ins a week, WhatsApp group banter and, sorry, a doubled up admin slip or two. By end of month one you’ll have made a list of three local SME suppliers and sent your first set of supplier notes in our format (see supplier-notes). We don’t expect perfection, but you’ll need to show you can organise, follow the cash and spot the gaps.

What makes it worthwhile

You see the work pay off quickly. That’s true whether you’re updating a kit in Observatory Studio or riding the month-end crunch in Durban. The founders you help, a Paarl jam maker racing a courier cutoff, a Randburg plumber learning SARS eFiling, remember your name. Roles are part-time, project-based or sometimes a busy full day, but never a slow drift. You choose the rhythm, guided by our cadences and supported by experienced operators from every province. If you’re practical, straight-talking and think EFT beats cash-in-envelope, you’ll get along with us.
