Running a small business is different in each South African city. There’s no sense expecting a Pretoria coffee roaster to jump on a flight every month for a pop-up review. BizMagic HQ is Observatory Studio in Cape Town, and our supplier hubs sit where founders actually run things: Observatory HQ, Sandton, Midrand, Rosebank, Stellenbosch, Durban, Pretoria, and Woodstock. Each hub is geared for specific business needs. Durban, for example, is near the port and coastal couriers, while Midrand handles chaos resets and ops rituals for growing teams on the N1 taxi routes.
Smaller hubs mean you meet people who already know the local suppliers, metro rules and the courier cut-offs. You get answers grounded in the day-to-day reality of Sunningdale’s building permits or Pietermaritzburg’s school calendar, not some generic advice from a Joburg boardroom. Less time lost on travel and waiting for your slot, more time on the phone back at the shop. Our model’s not perfect, but it saves alot of frustration for founders like Sipho, who runs an engineering services outfit out of Brooklyn, Pretoria.
Booking Your Supplier Session
All supplier hub sessions run by appointment only. Just email us at magic@bizmagic.co.za and mention which hub you need, your company name and what you’re trying to sort out (cashflow, first hires, export documents, that sort of practical detail). We’ll reply with available times and any prep docs needed. There are no walk-ins, and no web forms. If you want to meet near your shop in Somerset West, you’ll probably find the Stellenbosch hub fits best for cash calendar or board kit questions.
You don’t need to bring your accountant. But if it’s B-BBEE affidavits or SARS eFiling, have your CIPC number, proof of address, recent VAT201 or EMP201, and a trading permit handy. Please double-check your inbox for confirmation and prep instructions, we’re inbox first and don’t chase WhatsApps.
How to Choose the Right Hub
Each hub is tailored for a handful of operations needs. If you’re launching a new product or prepping for a weekend market, the Sandton hub reviews launch kits and pop-up requirements from R650 a session, including municipal permit advice. For supplier selection or quote week, Rosebank has a shortlist of local suppliers and real prices, not just generic templates. Cash planning or board meeting packs are handled in Stellenbosch, close to a cluster of SME accountants. Digital and email identity issues, like SPF records or .co.za domains, are solved from our Woodstock hub.
If you’re unsure which session fits, check HQ session details or drop us a line. We’ll nudge you to the best fit. Sessions run between 45 and 90 minutes, depending on your prep. For custom supplier radar, you may also want to read the Counter Hour Brief for typical questions and tips.
Time, Money and Preparation
Plan to block out 60 to 90 minutes of your day, plus set aside 30 minutes the day before for gathering docs and prepping questions. A pop-up compliance review in Sandton hub takes around an hour, while a chaos reset in Midrand can run to 90 minutes, especially for businesses with month-end pressure. Session costs start at R650 (incl VAT) for a single founder session or R1200 for weekly ops rituals in the Midrand hub.
Bring: CIPC docs, supplier quotes, last 3 months’ bank statements, latest VAT201 or EMP201 if needed. An example: Zanele, who runs a tile fitting crew in Mthatha, needed her supplier shortlist in Rosebank for a new contract, she brought her SADC certificate template, plus six local tile supplier quotes.
What Happens After Your Hub Visit
Every session ends with practical notes and follow-up actions, emailed to you within one business day. You’ll get a summary of what was sorted, what’s left to do, and who’s responsible (you, a supplier, your accountant, or BizMagic). For ops rituals or board kit sessions, we’ll include a monthly calendar, sample board pack and next steps. Stuck with digital identity after the hub? The Woodstock hub can handle extra email domain sessions or direct you to a trusted local provider.
If you want a regular slot (like the first Tuesday of every month), mention it when you book. You can also blend session types, such as combining a Counter Hour Charm kit with a board session in Stellenbosch. We follow up by email only, your privacy is respected and there’s no hard sell.
