Useful facts for editorial teams

BizMagic operates from Observatory Studio in Cape Town, with supplier hubs in Sandton, Midrand, Rosebank, Stellenbosch, Durban, Pretoria and Woodstock. All contact is by email, and all supplier visits are by appointment only. We serve owner-managed firms, usually with 1 to 20 staff, across urban and peri-urban South Africa, think a catering duo in East London’s Amalinda or a plumbing partnership in Krugersdorp’s Silverfields. Founders are mostly the operator and finance person rolled into one. Our starter kits (like Launch Deck and Invoice Charm) guide them through CIPC registrations, VAT201 submissions via SARS eFiling, EMP201, bank FICA, supplier onboarding, and B-BBEE affidavits. Price points range from R300 for a Supplier Radar shortlist to R1550 for a Cash Spell full service.

Story ideas and local data angles

BizMagic tracks weekly founder queries and cashflow trends across more than 400 businesses, from Krugersdorp building supply stockists to East London mobile nail techs. We can speak directly to practical hurdles faced by small operators, like VAT201 panic in school holiday crunches, the 25th as the real payday, or how load-shedding hits urban food trucks versus rural tile fitters. We have data on SME supplier selection, late invoice patterns, SARS eFiling hot spots around tax season, and month-end stock shortages by region. Our team can comment on the ‘week ahead’ ritual as a focus habit (see weekly ops rituals), supplier risk screening, launch kit adoption, and cash calendar usage in real businesses.

  • How founder routines change at month-end (real data, anonymised)
  • Supplier churn: why small firms swap suppliers every 7 months on average
  • Load-shedding and the SME: field data from electrical contractors
  • What a launch kit solves for first-time VAT201 filers
  • How digital prompts, not big systems, help keep cashflow real for 2-person teams

How to request interviews and images

For interview slots with our founder, client quotes (with consent), or specific images of our starter kits in real use (like a catering pack at a Nahoon Beach pop-up or a cash flow board at a Krugersdorp bakery), email magic@bizmagic.co.za with your publication, deadline, and context. We can respond within 2 working days to most editorial requests. Please remember, our founder is still hands-on with daily ops, so sometimes your wait may be a bit longer if it’s the week after month-end.

Brand assets and attribution

All BizMagic logos and kit images are available to editors on request. You’re welcome to use them for editorial, non-commercial print and digital features. Please credit “BizMagic Ops, Cape Town” and send a tear sheet or published link for our records (it helps us tally demand). Do not retouch, recolour or crop brand marks except for size. Asset packs are available via email. Our starter kits and supplier notes matter for real businesses, so accurate depiction keeps the context right. For nitty gritty on our toolkit range, see starter kits or supplier guides via supplier notes.
