Your Launch Deck weekly rhythm
Launch Deck works best as a focused Monday-to-Friday sprint, built for owners who need results this week. Whether you’re Pierre in Newcastle or Nandi in Durbanville, this rhythm keeps day-one tasks brisk but specific. Each day you tick off one big milestone, not a pile of borrowed templates. CIPC name reservation, FNB bank pack, and your first invoice all get their own clear slot. You’ll find the exact cues in your Launch Deck folder and in the step-by-step checklist.
- Monday: Reserve company name online (or check for partnership docs if sole prop).
- Tuesday: Collect ID copies, proof of address, KYC and tax numbers for bank pack.
- Wednesday: File CIPC registration (or check for auto-issues on eFiling)
- Thursday: Collect SARS letter, B-BBEE affidavit (if needed) and municipal trading permit for bank appointment.
- Friday: Open bank account and send first invoice to a real client or even a mate in your network.
The goal is to start Monday with your founding documents and end Friday with a bank account number in hand (or, at worst, your appointment booked with ABSA, if the queues are long). If you keep the pace, you’ll have sent your first invoice by Friday afternoon, ready for your client’s 25th payday run. You can adjust, but this week is about speed with no chaos.
Who owns what in a small team
In a team of three to twelve, dividing tasks keeps nerves cool. The founding owner (say, Mpho) takes Monday’s name reservation and Friday's bank run. Your admin lead, maybe Lerato, collects documents and manages CIPC and SARS logins on Tuesday and Thursday. A finance head (like Sipho) prepares the invoice template and checks that your bank pack matches what ABSA or Standard Bank in Newcastle is actually asking. When roles overlap or someone’s juggling alot, your handoff sheet in the deck (see the handoff guide) helps clarify next steps.
When load-shedding or school holidays hit
Stage 6 at 11AM? School pick-up traffic in Durbanville at 1:30PM? When the rhythm breaks, nudge your cadence forward by a day but keep your priority for bank slots or CIPC filings early morning. Load-shedding at Observatory HQ is usually scheduled, so plug your Wednesday filings into a 7AM-9AM window if possible. If Friday’s a public holiday, push the bank run to the next working day. School holidays tend to mean more morning public service queues in Newcastle, so check your supplier’s bookings on the Observatory HQ supplier hub before heading out. If things slip, stick to your same-week run sheet in the main Launch Deck kit.
Reviewing your setup pace after 30 days
After your first month, review what hit the mark and what dragged. Did you get FICA’d with the correct documents or scramble for a utility bill on Thursday night? Was the CIPC queue short or did your registration get stuck on a missing ID number? Get feedback from your team on their slots and check your checklist completion in the resources section. If you missed a beat, update your run sheet for month two. The Launch Deck is built to be reused and refined, helpful for the next new hire or side hustle. For extra support, join a weekly ops catch-up using the template from the launch week ritual.
